Tamon Yamaguchi was a rear admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy and a pioneering carrier warfare commander whose aggressive tactics shaped Japanese naval strategy during World War II. Commanding the 2nd Carrier Division, he fought at the Battle of the Coral Sea and the pivotal Battle of Midway, campaigns that defined the limits of carrier operations. He died at Midway, exemplifying the warrior spirit of the Imperial Navy.
