Commander Bio

Norman Scott (1889–1942) was a Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy and commander of the heavy cruiser USS San Francisco during World War II. Known for his aggressive tactical leadership, Scott led his ship through the critical Guadalcanal campaign in the Pacific Theater. He was killed in action during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in November 1942, becoming one of the Navy's notable losses in the campaign.
